Glass-ceramic sealants for solid oxide cells
Title glass-ceramic sealants for solid oxide cells
Description: Sealants in solid oxide fuel cells technology are important to prevent any gas leakage through the cells and the interconnects, and to provide electrical insulation between the interconnects within a stack. Among the different classes of materials investigated during recent decades, glass-ceramics seem to be the most promising owing to their high chemical stability under the operating conditions. The sealing materials must show high gas tightness, thermo-chemical and thermomechanical compatibility with the coupled materials, as well as stability in the relevant operating conditions (750°-850°C), in both oxidising and reducing atmospheres) for thousands of hours.
