Glass foams from vitrified ash
Glass foams from vitrified ash
Aim of the activity is the use of vitrified bottom ash from municipal incinerators for the production of low cost insulating panels made by glass foams.
Different kind of other waste materials (i.e. soda lime glass) can be added.
The realization of a porous structure is given by bloating, based on gas generated during heating by chemical reactions inside the viscous mass; no foaming agents were used.
Different kind of heating techniques (flash or ramp heat) and dwell temperature (1000 to 1200 °C) were tested in order to obtain the best mechanical strength/density ratio.
